:: 2004.01.06 :: Released Hatchet, a log parser/viewer for OpenBSD's PF firewall software. Written in Perl and using HTML::Template to generate the log pages, it also optionally uses pfstat to create utilization graphs. Check it out here.
:: 2003.08.14 :: I presented a talk last night to the Columbia, MD Linux User's Group on Securing 802.11b Wireless Networks. The presentation covered ways in which today's popular 802.11b networks can be secured using free software like Linux and OpenBSD, even so far as to integrate them safely within traditional wired networks. Note the slideshow is in OpenOffice Impress (.sxi) format.
:: 2003.04.22 :: A startup endeavor I'm currently working on, Argus Network Systems, finally has a website up and running. Not quite functional, but getting there. If you like the design, please contact me at DixonGroup Consulting.
:: 2003.03.15 :: The local weather has finally chosen to warm up. Temperatures are reaching close to 60 degrees this weekend, hopefully the last foot-or-so of snow will be melting soon. In the meantime, I'm usually found couching in front of our new Samsung 27" HDTV-ready flat-screen TV monitor. *hugs*
:: 2003.03.09 :: Finished our new living room mantel! Although it's currently only primered, you can view pictures here, here, and here. Oh, and that mark to the right of the mantel is actually the unpainted spot on the wall where the former mantel resided. The whole room is being repainted... eventually.

[ about_me ]
If you hadn't gathered it by now, I'm Jason Dixon. I'm an employee of Digex, Inc. (full-time) and DixonGroup Consulting, my own small consulting firm. I work with a spectrum of technologies, but focus on Perl, Firewalls, and Network Security on both Linux and *BSD (particularly OpenBSD) systems. I enjoy giving presentations at various Maryland LUG's, and have been known to hang out in PerlMonks. I've earned my RHCE, but I'd really like to pass the CISSP. If you've got the time, shoot me an email or catch me on AIM as fuzzyping. See here for my current resume.
